Effective January 1, 2023, the retransmission fees have increased to our customers.
The fees by county are as follows: Auglaize – $27.33, Van Wert – $21.58 and Allen – $21.72.
Retransmission consent is a provision of the 1992 United States Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act that requires cable operators and other multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to obtain permission from commercial broadcasters before carrying their programming. Broadcast companies set the rate for their retransmission fees. Although there is a negotiation process, TSC has no control over the amount of the fee. If we do not agree to the rates the fees will either increase further, or we will be threatened with a station blackout.
